Fighting for Portland’s Independent Music Community

We’re a growing coalition of artists, venues, and community members fighting to keep Portland’s music culture local, accessible, and alive.

Live Nation and a private developer are proposing a 3,300 capacity music venue right across from Portland Merrill Auditorium. Why is this a problem? Their business model is built on dominance: pushing out independent venues, taking over ticketing, and consolidating control of what artists you can see, how much you pay, and who gets paid.

City Council will vote on August 11 on whether to temporarily pause this project through a 180-day moratorium. This gives Portland the chance to do its due diligence before approving something that could forever change the culture of this city.

Our independent venues are under threat.

How to take action:

Let Portland’s elected officials know you support a moratorium on large venue development. A short, respectful message makes a big impact.
